Communique | Central Accounts Registry
The Bank of Mauritius has established a Central Accounts Registry (registry) under Section 52A of the Bank of Mauritius Act 2004. The objective of the registry is to support the fight against money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes. In accordance with this regulatory requirement, the Bank is required to submit account-related information to the registry.
This initiative is in line with the Bank’s commitment to continuing to protect and grow Mauritius as a reputable and safe International Financial Centre for your business to operate from.
We would like to reassure you that:
- Only information relating to accounts maintained by customers will be submitted to the registry.
- The information provided to the registry remains limited to account identifiers and ownership details. No account balances or amounts held in accounts will be submitted.
- Disclosure of account information collected on the registry is restricted under the law.
Protecting your information is a priority for us. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and security whenever information is transferred or shared.
